John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have attracted many people to Colorado. I can't think of another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. In the year 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today, he is the face of Colorado on the world stage. On my journeys around the world, I've met a lot of individuals who do not hail from Colorado. They'll say, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you are from Colorado. Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be a hit single. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
